'...and the blue stretched for miles'
with the new cd just about ready to go (early january
release for sure) we decided to make a cd-r single for
the song '...and the blue stretched for miles'... it
will be available at the stockton show (december 10),
and in addition to the 12 minute long '...blue...' it
will contain one old track and two live tracks that
were recorded on our recent radio appearance on wrsu
(fabric and circles... the live performance of
dreaming was mixed poorly so we're putting the 4 track
demo on there instead)... we'll only be making 40
(hand numbered) copies of this limited edition
release, so get it quick before they're gone...

this tuesday, november 26, between 7:00 and 8:00 pm
we'll be making our first live radio appearance... the
station is wrsu in new brunswick (rutgers university)
which is 88.7 on your fm dial... unfortunately,
because of certain regulations, only james and steve
will be able to be there (with the dj)... apparently
if more then 3 people are in a college radio studio at
once, it is considered a plot to overthrow the
government (and they just might be right...) we'll be
interviewed, and have the chance to play a few songs so if
you're within 30 miles of new brunswick, tune in....

we've been waiting for a long time...in mid-december all
that will end... the cd contains songs... the fabric of our
live: red in a pink cube, dreaming of outside... and the
blue stretched for mile, painting broken circles, waltzing
over cracked pavement. when sleeping children could learn to
breathe underwater, everything was beautiful and nothing
hurt...

NEW MP3 (now) & NEW CD (soon)
we've added a new MP3 to the
mp3.com site . it's the 4 track demo version of
'dreaming of outside' that is featured on the serenity (in
hindsight) ep... this version was recorded by steve in his
bedroom and features backing tracks made possible by his
fish (lionel, ringo, tom, tom, & tom.) it has since
been rerecorded and the new version will end up on our brand
new full length which is just about finished. we'll be
mastering it with our buddy gabe (mercenary productions)
within a week or two and are hoping to be able to release it

that's right... ZELDA PINWHEEL and THE ASTRAL DRIFTERS will
be performing their second of 2 performances in front of the
DUBLIN HOUSE on MONMOUTH ST. in RED BANK, NJ on saturday,
august 10 from 7:00-10:00... the first hour will be a set by
the ASTRAL DRIFTERS, the second (8:00) will feature both
groups playing improvised music together, and the final set
(9:00) feature ZELDA PINWHEEL performing by themselves...
the last time we did this was a blast and it's free, so come
one, come all....

asbury music awards
the nominees were announced
today for this years asbury music awards. it's the 10th such
event and among the nominees is everyone's favorite melodic
noise trio, ZELDA PINWHEEL, in the category of 'top avant
garde act'... there are 14 other bands nominated in this
catagory, including our friends in JFK's LSD UFO, PINK FROG,
and GEORGE IS DEAD (a performance punk band for whom steve
was the original guitarist.) some other artists who are
worth mentioning are NICKI JANE (top female solo performer),
LORD STERLING (top hard act, top indie band, top promotional
flyer, and top drummer) and THE RIBEYE BROTHER (top roots
band.) nikki and sterling will be performing too... it's all
going down at the berkeley carteret oceanfront hotel in
asbury park on august 4... i wondering if i should rent a
tux...

ZELDA PINWHEEL & astral plain drifters
performing an outdoor live set on the streets of RED BANK, NJ
on saturday, july 13 monmouth street to be exact we’ll be out
in front of DOWNTOWN ANTIQUES, which is directly across from
the DUBLIN HOUSE here’s how it’s all going to go down:
7:00-7:40 will start off with a set from astral plain drifters
from 8:00-8:40 ZELDA PINWHEEL and astral plain drifters will
combine to play some improvised music finally, from 9:00-9:40
ZELDA PINWHEEL will be performing by themselves at the very
least this should be a lot of fun and extremely interesting to
see how the members rumson high society, who clutter the town,
react to our polluting the streets with noise come on by grab
an outside table at the dub drink yourself silly with us it
all adds to the experience

an absolutely glorious practice today at ralph's house which
we just happened to get on 4 track tape... maybe we'll allow
the rest of the world to here some of it... not bad at all...

i know that this isn't exactly exciting news, but i haven't
had any real news to report for a while, and i didn't want you
to think we weren't doing anything. anyway, we've added some
new photos of stephen and james to the images section... they
were taken at our last show at the saint by our good friend
(and part time band member) kerri...
i promise that we'll have so real news to report soon,
including a new show, new compilation appearance (this one
should actually pan out), and possibly even a new ep to be
made available before the new full length cd that we're
currently working on... i'll let you know when we've works out

2 NEW SHOWS ADDED
ZELDA PINWHEEL has added two shows at THE SAINT in the coming
weeks.
the first will be an acoustic set opening for ADAM FRANKLIN
(of SWERVEDRIVER) on DECEMBER 27. ADAM is one of stephen's
favorite guitarists and this is quite an honor for the band.
be warned: do not expect a traditional acoustic set from the
band... we have a few tricks up our sleeves...
the second show is on JANUARY 5. we'll be back to our patented
noise brigade for this show...

GERALDO RIVERA loves ZELDA PINWHEEL
well, it's more likely that geraldo has no idea who we are,
but ZELDA PINWHEEL is featured in a rave review in this week's
issue of geraldo's paper, THE TWO RIVER TIMES. the review
gives a glimpse into ZELDA PINWHEEL's recent live set at the
saint (november 30, 2001.) the paper can be purchased in the
red bank area this week. if you don't get around to buying
your own copy, we will be posting the review on our site very

HAPPY DECEMBER
i can't believe that it's december and i walked around outside
with short sleeves tonight... anyway, the first ZELDA PINWHEEL
show in a year and a half was a rousing success... thanks to
everyone who came out to support us. i can't tell you how much
it means to james and i. also, thanks to the boys at the
saint, and especially to CELESPERE who put on an amazing set
after we played. we'll be playing again in a month or so...

NEW ZELDA PINWHEEL CD IN THE WORKS
ZELDA PINWHEEL has begun recording their follow-up to (:as
seen through a thin sheet of glass). there is no time table on
this as of yet and the band is only in the embryo stages of
the recording, but if you've seen stephen and james play
recently, you know that the new material is very different from
the first album... we'll keep you posted. in addition the

ZELDA PINWHEEL on DYSLEXIC EQUATIONS compilation
ZELDA PINWHEEL will be featured on a compilation on new
brunswick based start up label, DYSLEXIC EQUATION RECORDS.
also featured on this comp will be THE MAGNETIC FIELDS (MERGE
RECORDS,) MODEST MOUSE (K RECORDS,) and our good buddies
CELESPHERE (among others.) ZELDA PINWHEEL will be submitting a
new song to the effort. the CD should be released in early

web site (the store that stephen once worked at before he was
fired) where you can pay by credit card. the first (limited
edition) pressing is beginning to dwindle and no official
decision has been made regarding the next batch, so if you

TAKING A SHORT BREAK
stephen will be on the road for much of august, so the band
will be taking a short break. upon his return, look for more
shows in the fall and perhaps another album this winter...

Stephen Quaranta (of ZELDA PINWHEEL) planning solo project
STEPHEN QUARANTA, singer, guitarist, and founder of ZELDA
PINWHEEL, is currently working on his first solo release on
TRANSPARENT VOICE RECORDS. it will consist of live guitar
improvisations which he says "attempt to transcend time and
space by all but completely abandoning the ideas of key and
time signature, leaving us with sounds that bounce around in a
way that may seem quite random, but it's usually not." the
moniker for this project has yet to be determined and he has
not yet begun to record, but it should be complete by the end
of the summer and may be produced by fellow ZELDA PINWHEEL
guitarist, JAMES DELATACOMA (also of TOUCHY FEELY, and J
BETWEEN the T's among others.)
(UPDATE: this project has been put on the backburner as
stephen and james are focusing their time and energy on the
new ZELDA PINWHEEL cd and on putting together a live set...)

we are pleased to announce the launch of
www.TransparentVoice.net , the official web site of
TRANSPARENT VOICE RECORDS, the home of ZELDA PINWHEEL and

volume I" which features two songs from each of these bands.
this is a free comp and will be available through the band and

ZELDA PINWHEEL is now beginning to start playing shows again.
the band's line-up will tend to vary from show to show. on
different dates, the band's core 3 of stephen james and pete,
will be joined by a myriad of guest musicians. this promises
to make each performance unique and not to be missed. the set
tends to consist of mutations of songs from the new CD, as
well as new songs and improvisations... check the 'upcoming

3 bits of information:
first off, 'transparent music volume I - a transparent voice
records sampler' is in the works. details are currently begin
worked out and it will feature the music of ZELDA PINWHEEL,
and other artists that are soon to be released on the
transparent voice label...
secondly, for a limited time james's 'touchy feely' ep will be
given away for free at ZELDA PINWHEEL shows when you purchase
the new ZELDA PINWHEEL cd. as we mentioned before, TOUCHY
FEELY is the new ambient side project from james. james
described this project to stephen as "house music for the
mentally deranged." we think that is just perfect. stephen also
plays guitar on one track. this ep has yet to be released on
its own.

james has recorded yet another side project. this one is a 16

COMPILATION RUMOR
rumor has it that there is a compilation in the works that
will feature the music of ZELDA PINWHEEL. the CD will most
likely contain two ZELDA PINWHEEL songs: one from the
forthcoming CD and one unreleased track. J BETWEEN THE T?s may
also be included. other bands rumored to be featured on the
comp include TWISTED PAIR, NON-DAIRY LARRY, K!, STILTS,
HEATHER, and SANDY GILMOUR and THE BLOODSUCKING VAMPIRES. i
must stress that this is not confirmed yet? oh, and still no
release date or official title on the new CD yet.

we have finished mastering the new cd! a big thank you to gabe
at mercenary productions for the help... we should have an MP3
of the mastered version of 'another journey...' on our site
within a week or two... the release date of the album is still

the cd is recorded and mixed. we are now in the process of

NEW SONG ON MP3.com
the completion of our new cd is just around the corner? it
should be finished being recorded and mixed on saturday. the
mastering will take place next week? we are still not certain
about the release date. there is a new song available on our
MP3.com site, called ?another journey through water.? you may
notice that ?an epiphany? [from the HOME(?) demo] is no longer
there. as we are in the process of remastering the entire
demo, we felt it would be better to pull this song down and
put it back up later when the sound quality is improved.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
there is so much to tell... the recording portion of the cd is
completely finished. it now awaits mixing. we were planning on
starting that this weekend, but the eminent blizzard will most
likely keep us home. there is new information on the cd
(tentatively titled "life in a glass bubble") in the RELEASES
section of our site. this includes a track listing and will
soon contain a brief explanation of each song... the HOME(?)
demo (which is currently out of print) will be re-mastered on
cd and reissued with a bonus track. there is no timetable on
this as of yet... james' solo project entitled "J BETWEEN THE
T's " is in the works as well. it will feature guest
appearances by stephen and kerri... finally, there are new
photos in the IMAGES section...

as you can see, the whole site has been revamped... there will
